Background Information

Exploring different types of energy production in your community will provide meaningful hands-on opportunities for you to learn about energy, how it is produced, the impact on the environment, and the impact on our economy.  You will learn about coal and wind power and explore career opportunities in our community.  You will complete online research, work as teams, collect data and report your findings.

Relevance: You will learn about yourself as you learn about the world around you! When you learn about energy production and conservation it will help you learn about your needs and how your energy consumption affects the environment.  Working as a team will help you to build skills necessary for becoming productive members of society.  Your work with this project will help you to learn to ask questions, distinguish between fact and opinion and make educated decisions that reflect your own ideas and beliefs.  Comparing different types of energy production during this project will help you learn and practice English, reading, math, science and social studies skills.
